Some 25 years ago Trevor worked overseas as a marine biologist before returning to the UK to teach in schools, colleges and universities. In the last 15 years Trevor has written more than 40 published books and hundreds of articles. Trevor has swum with sharks, appeared on radio and tv, and survived many encounters with classes of school children.
Trevor gives talks, presentations and workshops about natural history, environmental issues and non-fiction writing. He enjoys working with staff, students, pupils and others to explore these subjects in activities tailored to their needs and interests.
Trevor is also a Fellow of the Royal Literary Fund at the University of Bath where he coaches students and staff in writing skills. |

Examples of activities …
Popular themes for activities are those based on Trevor’s recent books, such as Whale Watcher (Natural History Museum) and See for yourself: Water (Dorling Kindersley): |
 |
Whales Ahoy! is a multi-sensory presentation about whales and dolphins, their behaviour and conservation, plus whale-watching tips and plenty of opportunity for questions and answers
|
|
Amazing Water is a fun, interactive presentation about the magical properties of water. Where does water come from and why is it so precious?

What children have to say about Trevor’s work and activities …
 |
'My mom and dad got me Datafiles: Ocean for Christmas more than a year ago and ever since then, I’ve learned so much. When I grow up, I’m going to be an oceanographer.'
Jasmine Speaks, aged 10 |
|
'Thank you for your fascinating whale talk. It made most of us think about what we do to hurt whales. … Lots of people enjoyed the whale sounds. We also enjoyed the clips of the whales and the whale shots out of the bicycle pump.'
Jody Stout-Fay, purple class |

And librarians
...
'Trevor Day presented his audience with a superb multi-sensory information-packed event. His passion for and knowledge about wildlife, science and conservation came shining through, as Trevor treated us to an illustrated talk, the smells and sounds of whales, followed by a film clip demonstrating the tremendous size and power of orcas.'
Wendy Miller-Williams, Team Librarian |
